This art piece consists of simple origami and watercolor. It depicts a watercolor background, with paper leaves pasted on top, and a frame of watercolor painted around the leaves. The leaves are creased and of various warm autumn colors, such as red, brown and amber, and they are arranged in the shape of a many pointed star of blooming flower. The frame is decorated with pumpkins, onions, autumn leaves and acorns. The entire art piece consists of mainly watercolor except for a little bit of green for the stalk and vines of the pumpkins.
The brushwork of this art piece is relatively smooth, while the creased paper leaves show the uneven texture of autumn leaves. The leaves are arranged in such a way that they radiate from the centre outwards, like a blazing star.
This art piece is meant to portray my desire to experience the lovely autumn that Singapore does not have, the falling leaves, the autumn harvest and the blaze of colors. The way I arranged the leaves was to represent the exotic radiance, joy and happiness of autumn.
